The national politics of immigration and border control - which are the foundational ‘why’ answers (really threats, in my opinion) are what generates these specific series of systemic or chronic incidents and hazards in our country. And this has gone on for years and years. The bigger question of this EMN series is should Emergency Management be involved in any aspect or role of any chronic or systemic disaster?

In this first part we will explore the nexus between Emergency Management Organizations and Immigration and Border Control in the United States, focused on events which occured in 2023-24. This post will also tie in the professional responsibility and accountability of the organizations themselves.
