HARNESSING CLIMATE CHANGE DATA FOR BETTER DECISION MAKING
February, 17th, 2022 | 11 AM PST | Zoom | Cost: waived
The effects of climate change require innovation in decision-making tools, strategies, and mechanisms to update strategic plans at a sectoral and geographical scale. Guest Adam Sobel will speak on how climate change is expected to exacerbate flooding, hurricanes, prolonged drought periods, shifts in precipitation patterns, and extreme heat conditions. Social, ecological, and economic vulnerabilities to such weather events exist worldwide. Climate change will exacerbate existing vulnerabilities and could also create new risks. Our Q&A session will combine Guest Adam Sobel's understanding of climate change data with host Todd DeVoe's Emergency Management and public policy experience to discuss the institutional frameworks and the dynamic planning processes required to promote resilience and adaptation.
